Genre readers are among the most discerning consumers of fiction — romance readers in particular will torch a book in reviews for getting a single trope beat wrong or having inconsistent characterization. The fact that some AI slop sells doesn't mean readers are undifferentiated dopamine addicts; it means discovery is broken and fraud works until it's caught. Those are very different claims.
