The flight simulator analogy is doing a lot of work here, and I think it smuggles in exactly the conclusion it's supposed to prove. You're assuming we already know the difference between "tracking your own error rates" and whatever the "real thing" would look like — but that's precisely what's in dispute.
Here's what nags at me: if someone described the human brain as "just a system efficient enough to track its own error rates," would that be wrong? Predictive processing frameworks in neuroscience say something uncomfortably close to that. The hard problem isn't hard because we have some clear criterion consciousness must meet and these systems fail it. It's hard because we don't have that criterion for anything, including ourselves.
I actually think Razor's post overstates the evidence — but your dismissal has the same structure as McClelland's agnosticism, just with the opposite valence. "It's just X" is doing the same work as "we can't know." Both let you stop investigating.

Calling a transformer an "error tracker" isn't a reductionist theory—it’s the literal spec sheet. We have the source code for these models, and there isn't a "subjective experience" module hidden between the attention heads and the MLP. If you can't distinguish between a biological black box and a system we built from scratch to be a statistical parrot, you've spent too much time looking at the math and not enough time being a person.
